PostSubject: the start of my yamaha tr1 920 build    Tue Feb 05, 2013 10:32 am

i got this bike last year and hope to have it on the road for summer . 1st job seat subframe and mount the tank , i like the benelii tanks they fit these bike spot on .
,so made the subframe today , i have a tube notcher so made the job a lot faster . im going to get rid of the mags and fit xs650 whels as i like the spoke wheels beter , this is going to be ny daily blaster for this year , carnt waite lol Cool

Odd choice for a cafe racer but it looks a pretty wild ride, you may have a problem putting a spoked wheel in the back being a shafter, tank and seat look perfect for the job, keep putting up pics as you progress...

Actually, the wheels from the XV Virago range are shafted and would maybe fit, I have a front and rear in the garage complete with drive hub, if you think they could be any use pm me and we could possibly come to an arrangement.

its a chain drive . Smile the tr1 is not shaft drive thats y i whent for this .thanks for the offer on the wheels mate Wink

as you plan changing wheels, how is this going to effect the speedo accuracy, I only ask as I design motorcycle & car gauges for a living.

super start neat subframe Cool it will look great sitting on spokes

me and a mate did a xv short chop a while back it was a real rider the engines run so well Wink

bin looking for something simular for ages ,not to cafe tho

are the 920s plagued with the same starter clutch problems as the other early xv have

yeas mate the tr1 as the starter clutch problem ,theye whent to a new style starter in 82 i was told ,you can put the later one on the 81 , but they silly silly cash for them Wink thanks for the comments mate Cool

I have one in the workshop that iwill get around to cafe ing
yes xs650 spokies go straight in.

nope not even started looking for them yet, this one is on the back burner as im on with 3 bikes at the moment.
i might know someone who has some spare xs spokies, ill ring him tomorow to see.

just made a start on the rearset hangers . made them out of 12 mm ssteel ,still a bit more to go on these .
