Second opinions?
I had to temporarily remove it a couple of weeks back after the mount broke mid-ride. It's all re-attached and working now, but I realised it made hardly any difference to the lighting/indicators.
It's an old bike on a kickstart only so there's nothing else I need the battery for (I believe, please inform me otherwise!) and removing it will open up some possibilities with doing something a bit different with the seat, where it is currently housed.
Long term, I'm planning on keeping her even after I've got my full licence and a big bike so eventually it'll be a proper fair-weather bike.

not too good with electrickery . i had an old bsa which could run without a battery but it would blow the lights if you tried to use them when the ignition was switched that way (which the local MOT place found out 
)
