Yay! I'm first to post here!

Well I have an RXS100 cafe racer project on the go at the moment and would really like it to have two exhausts, one either side. It is, however, a single cylinder so not sure if that's possible. Does anyone know if it can be done? Bearing in mind though that its a two-stroke but it hasn't got an expansion chamber exhaust just a uniform thickness thing like a four stroke would have.

no ! can't be done unless you had a fake exhaust. 2 strokes don't like having their pipes messed with. also i'd choose another bike to " cafe " , your rsx looks in too good nick to butcher up.

Don't worry, I'm not going to be doing any butchering apart from the seat and that has a 5 inch tear in the top and would need re-covering anyway. And the foam is so tired it doesn't even try to keep your bum comfy. Shame about the exhaust though, I feared as much. My DT125R was very picky when I tried to play with it's exhaust. The fickle moo.

Thanks for the advice, its all appreciated!

I've chosen the RXS to cafe because I am going to use it as a practice mule for learning bike mechanics. Going to strip it down, repaint everything and replace all the gaskets and seals and as much of the worn stuff as I can. Its 18 years old now and it had 11,000 miles on it when I picked it up 3 years ago, so its had a fair bit of time just standing around and things are slowly wearing away. Since I've had it I've done over 23,000 extra miles on it. Found a snapped spoke sticking out of it last year when I stopped for petrol (was wondering why it was feeling a bit rubbery on the roundabouts).

Been learning all about carbs: the Venturi effect, the overlapping of jets and all those other carb-related witcheries so hopefully I'm going to be able to mildly tune the thing too. Nothing special, just a K&N filter and new exhaust with a nicely set up carb, providing I can manage to learn that stuff properly.

Although its not traditionally a very girly thing to do, I'm actually really enjoying it!

Hi,
There is a bike that has a 1 into 2 exhaust pipe fitted as standerd and both are active pipes but there's only one exhaust port!
It's called a cagiva roadster 521 (125cc)!
And it's two stroke, I know this because I had one last year, very good bikes and aircooled like your rxs too!

Thanks Kwakz250, not late at all as I've had the thing on hold for a while now whilst I was delving into the ins and outs of electrics :S. Back on the project now and will definitely look into the roadster exhaust thing, very interesting!

I have done things like this before, it will work, I usually make a complete new pipe which splits into 2, this kind of thing was done years ago in the early stages of 2 stroke preduction, as it actually helped with back pressure and performance before the expansion chamber was invented. Don't worry, just do it, at worst it will need a little fine tuning.
