This is my 1978 CX500 Cafe racer project I’m starting. So fare I have replaced the stator, the rectifier, rebuilt/re jetted the carbs, replaced the coils, took off the stock air box and added some pod air filters. When I got the bike it had a full fairing on it, I ditched that and added the bullet fairing and some drag bars. I need to find a tac and speedo that will fit under the fairing. Still looking for a cafe racer seat. If anyone know where I can find one id appreciate the help.

Thanks
Wes

Wow, nice clean bike matey

Try these guys for clocks http://www.digitalspeedos.co.uk/digital_gauges.htm and ebay for a seat.
Any chance of a bit more info/photos on your carbs and filters mate as I'm just about to start the engin rebuild on my CX500.

That looks good, I wouldn't have looked at a CX and thought 'Hmmn, cafe racer", but then the same goes for the BMW RS, but I've seen a couple of nice ones of those (once the owners ditched the godawful fade-to-black paint jobs!)

For clocks and seat unit I'd try E-bay, I've sourced a lot of bits for my CB750 project from there including an unused sport seat and a brand new Motrad 4:1 sports exhaust for less than half price!

I don't think I could bring myself to do it.
Seems ashame.
I mean I like the idea of a CX Cafe Racer as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't want to pull apart such a lovely looking standard example of a true classic to get it.
I'm actively looking for a CX500 at the moment.
It seems laughable now.
I mean even by the standards of the day it was a bit of a plodder but it is, in my humble opinion, mechanically at least, one of the best motorcycles ever to come out of any factory anywhere.
