Can anyone tell me if there is a British magazine called "Cafe Racer" published here in the UK? If there is, can anyone tell me how I can get it? I'm sure I saw one in Norway recently whilst on holiday, but over there it cost £14 ! Sad

There are two, one published in the USA, fairly recent, edited by Mike Seate, who also wrote few books on the subject and the one one in France, on the market for quite a few years now, with excellent photography.

Both can be bought from the Magazine Man ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] I often buy mags from them and I can vouch for a reliable service.

Very Happy Thanks Guys,
Seems a shame - don't it? We invent the bikes and yet we have to get the mags from overseas! I've heard of the french version; infact I've been photographed for it twice! I know one photo at least got published as the guys at Jack Lilley's did me a photo-copy. I was promised photo's on both occaisions by the photogrphers, but never recieved them.
So, given that Cafe Racer is U.S. published is it mostly U.S. biased? Smile

Unfortunately (with the exception of this forum) it seems most things ''cafe'' are now US oriented. The Americans seem to have grasped the concept of cafe race culture wholeheartedly and, as with all things American, are doing it bigger and better than we in the impoverished UK could ever dream of!

I think nowadays there are so many sports bikes (originally inspired by cafe racers!) available off the shelf, very few people can be bothered (or even have the knowledge) to get the spanners and lump hammer out to make their ride individual.

Do a google search for cafe racer, 90% of the hits are in the US, but the good news is they are happy to ship anything anywhere, so if you spot those lucious bolt-on goodies that will make your bike stand out, chances are there's a US builder somewhere doing it. Take a look at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I put a picture of my new velocity stacks up on here last week, they come from Steel Dragon Performance who are in a place called Deer River, Minnesota, which is so far away from civilisation you'd need the Hubble telescope to see it, but two weeks after placing my order they were here in all their shinyness!

So, God Bless America, at least they are keeping the cafe racer alive and kicking!Laughing

Thanks for the links, Paul (?). I've ordered a copy of a magazine called "Cafe Racer" from these guys [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] today. They tell me that this magazine is published in the UK! Anyway, when I get a copy I'll know.

Hi, yes, I'd be interested if it has any useful inof or if it's just a promo platform for professional builders. Cheers, Paul

Just received the magazine "Cafe' Racer" today. Haven't had the chance to read it properly yet, but it seems like a pretty good magazine. First impressions: it's well laid out, good photo's and interesting information. It is not a promo for professional builders. However, most of the articles are American based; this is an American published magazine and not, as I was informed published in the UK. I have to say that, although I'm pleased with the latest copy that I've obtained I will not be taking out a subscription, as I was looking for a British biased magazine. Sad
