| Hi Miffa, Halfords do a 'kit' but personally I'd look in your local directory or Yellow pages for fibre glass suppliers, they normally do free 'How-to' guides as well. I'd recommend a woven mesh type of mat rather than just the chopped strand Halfords sell, it's easier to cut to size and shape and it's a lot stronger once set. Resin is resin, just follow the instructions to the letter for volume of hardener to resin, I've seen so many people over-do the hardener then the whole thing goes off before you can use it, waste of resin and brushes!
If it were me I would make a former of the extension you want out of a yoghurt pot or something similar, then mould your glass fibre round that to the desired size, making sure you have some form of overlap at the edges and ends so you have something to bond to the original tank. That way you get a smooth finish where it goes over your frame, you're not trying to mould the mat into a shape with no support, nor are you likely to get resin where you don't want it! Three to four layers is probably about right, depending on the weight of mat you get, you will see after you've laid up the first layer just how strong it is and you can work from there on how many you will need.
Do you need to chop out any of the existing tank? If so do that before making your mould, that way you can check the fit.
Fibre glassing is straight forward, just take your time and good luck.

| recently painted a dunstale fibreglass tank that had just been treated inside.
the kiddie had it done elsewhere but i'll see if he knows what was put in it.
the info paul gave on fibreglassing all sounds right to me.
if your worried about coming away from the mould though, its worth buying some proper release agent.
i got some from the local suppliers for a little over a tenner but i know "frost" sell it cheaper than that.

| i've chased les up about the sealer and he's now chasing the other guy.
however, i do now have the moulds to make a egli-vincent tank for a customer who builds the frames for them.
i'm guessing he'll know which way to go with it.

| sorry i havent come back to you on the sealant yet miffa.
been out of contact with anyone for a while at this end lately with work commitments.
with you on the bike front this year, mine seems to have been pushed down in the queue as well.
will have to sort the sealer for the vincent so i'll come up with an answer one way or another.
