| me dad has a Norton commando 850 1974 thats been in pieces (going to be built one day) for the last 27 ish years and this has inspired me to kick him into gear and get some new parts and start doing some more, its half mocked up on a bench for now
but your bike is nothing short of spectacular | |

| Not much stock left now. All new parts fitted (except circa 1959 vintage numberplate). Here is the list of mods and peerformance figures. 2006 TRIUMPH THRUXTON Mechanical Specification:- 1. Wiseco forged aluminium high compression pistons and cast iron liners. Bore 92mm +6mm oversize, Stroke 68mm. Displacement: 904cc
2. Oversize inlet valves (+2mm) and exhaust valves (plus 1.5mm). 3. Camshafts re-profiled for higher lift and longer duration. 4. Crankcase breather size increased from 6mm to 13mm diameter. 5. Keihin FCR 39mm flat-slide race carburettors with open velocity stacks, controlled by ¼ turn quick action throttle. (Carburettors supplied by BR Special Tuning, Wales) 6. Billet alloy intake manifolds (supplied by British Customs, USA) 7. Cylinder head gas flowed, ported and skimmed (10.8 to 1) 8. Fly wheel balanced and lightened 440g. 9. Triumph Twins modified igniter. (Increases rev limit to 8,500rpm and advances ignition timing). 10. Heavy duty (+10%) clutch springs. 11. Predator stainless steel race exhausts. (supplied by British Customs, USA.) 12. Pretech 6-pot billet alloy race spec caliper (supplied by Pretech Precision Engineering, Reading.) 13. Brembo radial master cylinder. 14. EBC Prolite fully floating front disc (Road Spec). 15. Bendix MRR race pads. 16. Norman Hyde fork brace. 17. Norman Hyde steering damper. 18. Ikon adjustable rear suspension. 19. Drive sprockets changed from 18/43 to 19/41. 20. Titanium nuts and bolts for engine casings, discs, sprocket, caliper’s etc. (Supplied by Pro Bolt) 21. Avon Azaro tyres (Road): 110x80x18 front, 140x80x17. 22. Second set of Thruxton rims fitted with Avon 110x80x18 AM22 &140x80x17 AM 23 race tyres for track day use. 23. EBC Prolite fully floating race spec front disc for track day use. 24. Scottoiler automatic chain lubrication. 25. Moto-Detail oil temperature gauge
Cosmetic Specification: 26. Handmade ‘Slippery Sam’ polished aluminium fuel tank. (Supplied by T A Baker Tanks, Wales.) 27. Alloy Monza fuel cap. 28. CNC billet alloy ‘race’ footpegs. (Supplied by Oberon Performance) 29. Handmade aluminium number plates. (Supplied by CW Classic) 30. Homemade hand-cut ‘race’ numbers. 31. Homemade aluminium fly screen. 32. Rear mudguard shortened,reshaped and resprayed. 33. Homemade aluminium rear light and number plate mounting. 34. Rizoma billet alloy front brake master cylinder. 35. Bonneville T100 black & grey speedometer and tachometer. 36. Drilled and polished gear lever and rear brake lever. 37. Homemade aluminium chain guard at front sprocket. 38. Stock seat unit modified to fit with the fuel tank. 39. Polished alloy seat cowl. (Supplied by The Tank Shop, Scotland.) 40. Polished alloy front mudguard. (Supplied by The Tank Shop, Scotland.) 41. Billet aluminium indicator lights. (Supplied by Motrax) 42. Billet aluminium LED rear light. (Supplied by Motrax) 43. Billet aluminium bar end mirror. (Supplied by Oberon Performance) 44. Stainless steel headlamp guard. 45. Circa 1959 cherished number plate. Performance Data (rolling road tested @ rear wheel): Stock motor: 52.0bhp, 41 ft/lbs torque. Tuned motor: 88.4bhp, 65.5 ft/lbs (open velocity stacks and 150 main jets) Kerb Weight: 211 kg wet (with 4 gallons of fuel & 4 litre oil). Dry weight approximately 193kg. Triumph claim 205kg dry with stock Thruxton. Standing Quarter Mile (At North Weald RWYB 10 May 2009) 12.69 seconds: 111mph. | |

I shaped the number board in alloy sheet and bent it to suit. The bracket is alloy strap shaped around the headlight, mounted to the headlight brackets. Alloy mounts are rivetted to the bracket and bolted to the numberboard. Simple to make and cost me less than £10.00 in materials. Here is a close up formerly painted black. | |
