I've got a 1980 xs1100 and need fuel lines for it. Can I get some tubing from a local hardware store and use that to replace old lines?

Yes, just make sure it's proper fuel line from an Automotive factor, not just black or clear plastic from your hardware store or the solvents in the petrol will start to dissolve the lining and that won't be funny!
