XS1100 project carb cleaning Problem

Trying to clean the Carbs to my 1980 xs1100. Ive got the carburator out but am having problems with some of the screws on top of the diaphram covers. A couple screws are getting lightly stripped. Is there any way i can avoid stripping them so i can get to Cleaning them :)someone HELP lol im new and want to get this baby started

Stripping! as threads in the ally carb body I take it, have you splashed flick on them (WD40) and given time to soak in, wire brush the underside of set screws to make sure your not dragging crap through the threads, warm thing up a bit and I do mean a BIT,,,, hot air gun or oven no flames, or microwave!, putting flick on till they are all the way out, just go steady and cross your fingers....

Ok cool can't believe I didn't think of spraying it with some wd40 hopefully that does the trick if not maybe I can get a flame on it some how
