| It is with very heavy heart I have decided I am going to have to sell my CB750 I am changing jobs in the next few weeks and the new job will involve even more travelling, and whilst SWMBO doesn't grudge me time in the garage I think it's going to be supremely unfair being away all week then spending Saturday and Sunday working on the bike, especially when she holds down a full-time job as well so all the household stuff, gardening, decorating etc. can only be done at the weekends. I know it's how everyone else does it, but I can't see me getting the old girl finished this year, let alone by Summer, and we all know what happens to projects that lie around for ages, things get lost, damaged or sieze up and you're back to square one. So I'll be dragging her out of the garage, getting photos and it will be another for Miffa's "What's on E-bay" | |

| simular but not same Predicament paul, builders arrive in 14 days ive got stuff stored everywhere my mates wont even answer the phone to me anymore 2 concrete sheds empty, now the 20ft x 9ft wooden one to empty and take down, i think even if i pick up a spanner ATM it will mean divorce, whole side of the house is coming off
so whats your plans buy one of the shelf or wait till circumstances change to be honest im quite looking forward to just riding this summer ready for when the dust settles winter time and av another crack then
best of luck with the new job

| Hi Miffa, I've bought a 'Cat C' Yamaha XJR1300 off t'Bay. '57 plate, 9069 on the clock, damage is orange-sized dent in the tank, clock cowling broken (clocks still work fine) slightly bent bars, scuffed mirror, bent footpeg and slight scuffing to the after-market Scorpion exhaust, mine for £2500! With the exception of the tank it's a weekend's work to sort. Why the fek they classed it as Cat C is beyond me, apparently the assesors no longer even see the vehicle in question, they just look at photographs, so one man's loss etc. Even as a repaired Cat C it will sell on for well in excess of my costs, and I'll get a Summer's fun out of it first. Won't stop the cafe urge though, so I'll still be back here a lot., and if the Honda doesn't reach the asking price it may well go to the back of the garage until the dust settles. | |

| sorry to hear you need to sale it paul.
know the feeling having 5 projects on the go at the same time myself including another garage to put them in.
be nice if you could buy time in a packet.
is there no way you could mothball it for a while?
better that than regret selling it.

| I'm looking at options Shaun, problem is justifying it to the boss, she has a pretty strict 'one-bike-at-a-time' rule | |

| Well a quick update. I had a guy phone about the bike, very keen, can I come round tonight etc. 20 minutes beofre he's due he texts, something's come up, I'll be round tomorrow. So in the meantime I get another call, guy just round the corner, comes round in 20 minutes, likes the bike, offers me a grand (I was hoping for around 1250).
So, being Mr Nice Guy I explain that there's someone else coming from a fair distance away and it wouldn't be fair to sell it before he gets here. Long story short, second bloke arrives, yes I like it, also offers me a £1000, said I already had that on the table, but if he could go to £1100 it was his. He goes away to think about it, eventually texts me back that he thinks there's too much work (after he's seen pictures of a rolling frame and a 4 cylinder engine in bits on E-bay!)
So I go back to guy no.1, OK, it's yours. "Nah, thanks, but I lost interest."
Moral is don't be Mr Nice Guy! Oh and I hate E-bay, 107 'watchers', wtf?

| To be honest Pud, I am rapidly coming to the conclusion I'd rather hang on to it and complete no matter how long it takes, only issue is I am now the proud owner of this as well! I've got new clock covers s on order and the tank has a slight ding which I'm getting sorted, but a '57 plate for the money I paid? I'm chuffed to nuts! (just don't tell SWMBO ) | |

| Hey,
That's criminal to sell that....you've got all the components there with one last push you can get that finished! Like Miffa said it'll be worth a lot more finished anyway.

| Well the old girl has gone, delivered her down to the new owner yesterday To tell the truth he was very quiet as he contemplated the boxes of bits, I don't think he realised just how big a Meccano kit he'd taken on, but when I look back at the basket case it was when I got it I realised how much work I'd already put in, so hopefully he won't be back on the phone complaining! I'll keep poking my nose in here from time to time, the cafe bug is still lurking, and as we all know once you've got it........now where did I park that Yam? | |

| at least it went quite quickly, paul. are you going to slip the idea of a new bike project to her indoors over a meal or chocs and flowers? | |

| Actually, I've got my eye on this..... It's not a million miles away and providing it doesn't reach stupid money it could well become the next project. | |
