PostSubject: Re: Yamaha XJ550   Yamaha XJ550 - Page 3 EmptyWed Jul 18, 2012 2:50 am

Good morning,

Been absolutely ages since I was last on here so accept my apologies. I have been having to much fun with my wee XJ cafe racer to be spending time on her you know Laughing

Its been running sweet as a nut since finishing it & I have even managed to do what all cafe racres were meant for.. I raced it at the beginning of the year at Croft. Starting form 28th on the grid at the back of very modern & very quick Minitwins I managed to finish 27th Laughing, Totally outclassed by all the bikes in front of me which wasnt surprising really.
Hey- ho. I had a ball, the sun was shining & the bike went well considering its age.

A few photos of it in the pits after one of the races..

This is the state of the rear tyre afterwards .. Very Happy

I did have it up for sale recently but after a huge amount of interest there wasnt the right kind green backs being offered.. So im keeping it for the summer whenever that may arrive.

Cheers
Col.

Welcome back Col, beginning to think you'd wrapped yourself round a tree at East Fortune! The bike looks stonking, fingers crossed this bloody weather improves and we can all start getting some rubber down!

Cheers Paul,

nah, no incidents like that fortunately.
But I am now thinking of another project by building a proper race bike once again.. Another XJ perhaps too... Wink Won't want to use the 550 & then end up binning it & ruining all the hard work I have put into it. Croft was a one of & a good day out.
Best to have a bike built for the job...

Cheers
Col.

tasty XJ if that was mine I would play with it and develop it nothing gives you more satisfaction than beating the colour match brigade on an older bike
