PostSubject: Kawasai0 977   Kawasai0 977 EmptyWed Oct 29, 2014 7:45 am

Good afternoon everyone.

I'm new to this and this is my first post.

In a moment when my clarity of thought was obviously impaired; a friend I challenged each other to create a café racer. I bought a 1977 Z400; having owned one back in the day and now find myself having to do something with it. Last Sunday was the easy bit. I just took it apart.

I now have a garage full of bits and a whole load of work ahead of me!

Has ANYONE out there had experience of working on one of these bikes? Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

Big Sax

welcome big sax Smile Z400 is a good choice for a twin cylinder café racer project. I've had a Z750 and a Z1000 from about the same era the engines were pretty bullet proof and quite easy to work on so you should be OK there. Like you say the easy/fun part is stripping it all down .. just take your time and take loads of photos to remind you where it all went when you rebuild her Wink start a thread of in the projects section and keep us posted on how you're getting on
