PostSubject: Fair price for a 75 CB500T?   Fair price for a 75 CB500T? EmptyMon Jan 23, 2012 11:23 pm

First post here. Pardon any forum toes I may be stepping on.

I'm new to riding- got my license a year ago. I've been browsing bikes religiously on ebay, cylcetrader, craigslist and I think I finally found one for myself. 1975 Honda CB500T with clubman bars, cafe style single seat, aftermarket gauges, and a stage 1 air filter.

Bike has 21k miles on it, and seems to be in great condition. No rust from what I can tell, brakes are in good shape, clutch, battery, tires all good. Fires up nicely on the first few kicks. Needs a tune due to aftermarket filter. Runs a bit rich.

First question: Is $2100 a fair price? Negotiated down from $2500. Second question: Is this a reasonable first bike to get acclimated to riding with?

Look forward to responses, thanks in advance for any help.

Hi E and welcome. Very difficult to give an opinion from this side of the pond purely because the bike market if different over here.

Your buy-price equates to around 1400 Sterling which is top-end for a bike of that age, but if it's in as good a condition as you say then I don't see a problem with it.

It's a nice straightforward bike to cut your teeth on, spares shouldn't be too much of an issue (bearing in mind it's 37 years old!)

Good luck with the build and keep us posted.
