Hello everyone! Empty
PostSubject: Hello everyone!   Hello everyone! EmptyFri Jul 22, 2011 2:04 pm

Just came across this site whilst browsing, joined, and thought I'd introduce myself....I think enough time has passed to safely confess that I started riding at 14, passed my test on a Cub as soon as I was 16 and my dad signed the hp agreement on a Dbd34 as a present for passing my a levels at 18...it cost £109 from Johns of Romford! Those were the days! Unfortunately, I spent most of my time trying to start it rather than actually riding it..and after 2 or 3 weeks took it back and swapped it for an A10, which I kept for at least 10 years...along with a selection of others...in particular a triton that I built from parts...Worked at several bike shops, including Pride and Clarke, Elite Motors, Godfreys and Heron Suzuki racing before moving into race and sports car fabrication....mainly chassis and suspension design. Have always ridden bikes but moved onto Japanese as I got lazier...and now the time has come to build myself something interesting again I think! Briefly, the plan is to use Honda Transalp motor and wheels in a homebuilt frame resembling a featherbed but made to fit the engine, rather than just plonking it in an actual one thats too big. The thing I'm really after is a tank at the moment...I want a 3 gallon Lyta Manx tank but don't want to spend £500 on it....anyone got one I can take a mould off? Thinking thats not very likely but you never know....time for dinner anyway...cheers!

Hi Rob and welcome, I'm ages with yourself and grew up in Leytonstone then gradually migrated out through Ilford, Romford and Brentwood before the great trek North that wound up in Scotland! I remember Pride & Clarke, Stockwell Road, Brixton, do you remember Eddie Grimshaws? Used to be on the A127 Southend Road just up from Newbury Park underground station? Saw my first Honda CB750 there in about 1968, fell in love!

Well, only about 4 years since I last posted.....seems like yesterday.....but maybe that's just the Alzheimers kicking in!! Anyway, soon after I started the V twin café mentioned above I came across a very cheap, very rusty E type Jaguar which sort of took up all my time....a good 3 years of it in fact!
That's all done now and thoughts have turned back to bikes.....over the last couple of months I've built this....
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Theres a bit more detail over on DoTheTon btw but now I'm planning on something a bit more practical.....a V twin Cagiva café racer.....will start something soon in the right section....
