I fitted a open exhaust on my 790cc bonnie,im not sure if this will affect the valves ,but it does pop a bit on revving, any info on this would be great.

Hi Stevie, check your timing mate, backfiring through the carbs is sometimes a symptom that the valves are slightly open when the spark ignites.

cheers i know its not firing as it should im going to get it checked out by a bike mechanic near me asap,i dont have the tech stuff to check it myself and i dont want to cause any real damage to the valves by just ignoring it.

The new bonnie has an air feed into the carb manifold, this is for emmisions, the reason it is popping is due to the mixture being too lean, with the open pipes, blank off the air pipe.
