Kawasaki gt 550 Empty
PostSubject: Kawasaki gt 550   Kawasaki gt 550 EmptyMon Sep 01, 2014 9:54 am

Hi,
Just started stripping down a gt 550 to convert into a cafe racer as i loved the shape of the tank, but sadly i have already hit a snag.
Has any one stripped down the front forks on one of these before, as i cannot seem to get the top plug undone.
According to the manual you use an allen key but it just wont move, tried heating it up but no joy.
Its a G9 model 1997.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Sean.

Do you Know anybody with an air-wrench? If not get an allen-key socket the right size (you should be able to buy them individually at Halfrauds and the like) and use a breaker bar, much easier to do whilst the forks are still clamped in the yokes mind!

yeh air/electric impact wrench should do it , and like paul says, better loosening them off while they're still in the yokes to stop them spinning.
What you up to as well... changing the fork seals?
