stripping paint off petrol tank Empty
PostSubject: stripping paint off petrol tank   stripping paint off petrol tank EmptySun Mar 17, 2013 3:19 pm

Hey guys

so ive been advised the best thing to strip the paint off my tank is to use nitromorse , iv used it for stripping paint of wood but not my bike, does this sound right? allso what is the best way to get the paint of after the morse has done its work ie wire wool , buffing etc???

allso i want to paint the plastic side covers black , is this just a case of sanding a little then priming and spraying black???

Oh yeah i probably should mention my bike is a 78 cb500t

Any help would be vary much appreciated, thanks Very Happy

its tough to get decent paint stripper these days as its not seen as enviromentally friendly. Sad

starchem do a reasonable one. just needs water to kill it as well.

i prefer to just rub them down myself. its a lot more controllable.

if its just a re-paint as mr beekeeper says, whats the condition of the inside like if theres rust try having them chemically dipped that will leave them completly bare metal and clean as a clean thing on the inside
