Having been a follower of other people's builds for so long - and taking the fettling of my Ducati Sport Classic cafe racer to extremes - I've finally dived-in to create my own 1970s build, based on an imported 78 KZ1000 Ltd.
The donor bike was cheap and this was a low budget job, so I haven't stripped the whole frame or rebuilt the engine from scratch like some of you, but she's clean, run's beautifully, and with new lines, MC and levers, the brakes even work! - although it was a b*stard to get the Raask rearsets to work with the gear lever, and Rex at UMC had to fabricate a linkage from a BMW lever and Guzzi rose joint...
Here's where she is now, after lots of expert work, chopping and welding by Rex and Anita at Untitled Motorcycles/Victory in Camden.
Here's what she looked like when I got her.
WIP
And here's how I want the tank to be painted.
I hope you all approve...
I'm not sure about the inverted bars and might go for clipons instead. Any advice on fitting. I assume I need 35mm clamps?
I'll do a full story on
www.thebikeshed.cc when she's all done.
