| Hello, I'm new to this forum but have always loved the cafe racer style bike. i am hoping to try and build one this coming year using a 70s cb 550 or 750. before i embark on this project i was wondering if any of you out there would be able to give me a rough number for all those little thing you wouldn't think to factor in. i know the over all cost depends wholly on what kind of bike you build and the quality etc. but if some of you would be willing to maybe post a picture of your bike and the rough cost that would help me get a sense. thanks in advance | |

| hi Cafe Loco try not to think about costs mate it will frighten you off ,at least with CBs theres loads of stuff off the shelf ,doing as much as you can yourself saves a load of cash as well how i cost projects is about twice my available budget then times it by 2 and i only fall short of a couple of hundred quid | |

thanks for the quick reply well if you are a high school student you have saved the hardest part of the estimation costing procedure divide the total by 2 then divide the remainder by 4 thats what you tell the wife you have spent | |

| If your still doing school young fella, maybe set your aim a little lower, 125cc area, you can ride on L plates and you may be able to afford insurance,,,, as for the costs of building, there is only 1 F in fousands.... | |

| This one cost me over £3,500 to build, 900 quid for the original bike, then powder coating, engine rebuild, new carbs, clip ons, rear sets, custom tank and seat, exhausts, clocks, headlight, headlight brackets, rebuilt wheels, mudguards, braided hoses, new loom, new tyres etc. As she started As she finished up (Just don't ever let my wife see this!) BUT, trying to estimate cost is an exercise in futility, it's down to your own skills, expertise and experience, not to mention people you know along the way, It will cost what it costs and you live with it. You can limit costs if you're on a budget, just don't aim too high! Take a look at Crazyhoarse's project and see what can be done on a budget https://caferacer.forumotion.com/t457-125cc-cafe-racer-project-chituma-honda-cg-project#3151 | |
