Hi Troops, anyone know of a supplier for good quality clip-ons? Must be chrome not painted steel or alloy and 35mm stanchion size to fit my '77 CB750. Cheers!

I've been trolling E-bay for a few weeks but no joy, all teh one's I've seen are either for modern bikes with 40-50mm stanchions, or older british bikes with 34mm fittings.

However, I've just found brand new, 35mm chrome ones from a company called NSA Motorcycles. Not cheap, but heavy chrome finish and stainless bolts mean they're not going to fall apart, so the build continues!

Hi
Just found the NSA Motorcycles web site at - wait for it....

http://www.nsamotorcycles.co.uk

Got some good stuff there- £39 plus VAT aint bad for a good set of bars, and they are made in England.

But wouldn't it be great to have a comprehensive links page to Cafe racer suppliers...
Cheers

Now there's a plan, I don't know about the rest of the UK guys, but I find (or don't) getting hold of cafe race parts a real pain. I'm looking for an after-market front mudguard, the chrome one off the CB weighs a ton! Finding a decent after-market tank, seat, rear sets etc. it's E-bay or no-way. What happened to all the cafe race suppliers that used to be around in the 70's?

When I were a lad... you could walk into almost any bike shop and pick up bolt-on goodies, now they look at you like you've got 2 flaming heads! Even Unity Equipe, who used to be a Mecca for cafe race parts a few years ago, are struggling.

I've taken to buying bits from the USA, in an earlier post I put up a picture of some custom made velocity stacks I bought, they were 1/2 the price I could get them for in the UK and that included delivery and duty!

Clip-on handlebars? Empty
PostSubject: Re: Clip-on handlebars?   Clip-on handlebars? EmptyFri Jun 10, 2011 2:17 am

Hi
Ah those were the days - I remember just popping in to Read Titans in Leyton and picking bits for my CB250K1.
At least you could look at them and try tnem out for size.
Yes it seems the States are way ahead of us with bits.
Only trouble is the postage and then getting stung for the Customs charges and of course lost in post.
I ordered a petrol cap 5 weeks ago - admittedly it was sent by Surface Mail and I am still waiting,
guess it might not turn up as I have never waited longer than 4 weeks.

Cheers

Read Titan, remember the name well! I used to live in Leytonstone, then we moved to Newbury Park in the late '60s, I was 12-13 at the time. Eddie Grimshaw on Eastern Avenue had one of the first CB750s to come into the UK, he had it on a rotating plinth in the shop window, spotlit at night. I used to pass by on my way back from the tube station and stand in awe of this chrome monster with it's 4 silencers and gleaming gold metallic paintwork! So old hat now, but in comparison to the Brit Iron it was a thing of beauty.
