Hi from sunny Cornwall Empty
PostSubject: Hi from sunny Cornwall   Hi from sunny Cornwall EmptyMon Apr 25, 2011 7:42 am

Just stumbled across this forum, so thought I'd sign up and say hello.

I've been biking for more years than I care to remember, well over 30yrs anyway. I'm building a cafe racer from an old 650 Bros. Picked it up off Ebay a couple of years ago. Great little bike, bullet proof engine, only 26 thousand miles on the clock, nice sounding Vee twin, race exhaust, not road legal, but sounds great.

Got rid of the seat and plastics, rear footpegs and handlebars. Put the lot back on Ebay and sold them straight away.

Had a pair of clipons in the garage for years so they are fitted now, along with some bar end mirrors. Junked the rev counter, and made a single mount for speedo. Made my own seat using an old Bros seat pan, and made the seat hump from half a "hard hat", a bit of fibre glass and some filler. It's not perfect, but it's given me a few ideas of where I want to go with the design thing.

I'm not going to do too much more to it, other than to tidy it up a bit and then I'll sell it on and get myself another project.

I fancy building a Guzzi based cafe racer, probably a 650 or 750 if I can find one at the right price.

Anyway, will look forward to exchange a few ideas

Hi Jack,
welcome to the forum.. You will have to get some photos of the Bros up, sounds interesting.
I remember an arcticle in Performance Bikes many many years ago about one which had a few go-faster bitties on it. Looked good it did. Got to love the V-twin noise that wil go with it too..
A Guzzi or a BMW air-cooled twin would make a great cafe racer. Cool

Col.

Easiest way (I've found) get yourself a Photobucket account [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] There's no charge. Upload your pictures to there by clicking the green 'Upload now' button.

Once you've uploaded your pictures you simply highlight a picture, you'll see a list of options, go down to the IMG Code button, right click, then paste the link in your message on here, simples :-)
